My meetings at the customer site Wednesday got over by 3 and I found myself back at the hotel with nothing to do for the afternoon.
I checked my email from work, addressed a few issues, but nothing that would take a lot of time.

I knew the Philadelphia Art Museum had a nice collection of Armor. I looked it up on the map. It was less than 30 miles/50 km away, open until 8:45 that night, and had a "pay what you want" policy Wednesday after 5.

So, I set off.

And, ran into a lot of traffic.

The museum is near the zoo. Apparently on Wednesdays Giraffes don’t get to park.

I thought the public transportation system would be more up to date.

The museum is near a very shiny statue.

And, I got there.

After being stuck in traffic for an hour or so, I wanted to find the bathroom.
I followed the signs, but they ended here.

Lots of big open spaces inside.

Now, maybe the statue of purity was telling me to hold it in the museum, but I found a gallery guide and they showed me the corridor to the side I missed that did not have signs on it.

First I went to this exhibit.

Then, over to some impressionists.

Then, the armor that had drawn me there.

That’s a lot of polearms.

And, a lot of helms.

They even had a piece of armor I might have been able to wear!

"Very large nobleman"! Sure, why not!

Nice view from the armor room…

They had some swords too.

I particularly like this style.

Then, on to the tapestries.

The view out front window is famous from the Rocky movies.

I think there was some story here, but I don’t know it.

They had some earlier art too.

I had a nice discussion with this gallery guard about how this was a good place to sit.

In the main hall they paper the tables and provide crayons. It is nice the art museum encourages people to make art.

I did go look out the front.

There are some interesting statues in the front.

I wish the inscriptions were easier to read.

When I left, I got trapped. The parking garage exit is to an area that was blocked off for construction.
Finally, two construction workers moved some cones and let me leave.

But, the traffic didn’t help.
