That was strange

The hotel they put me up in for my meeting with the customer this week was very nice. Major chain, well known, hotel less than a year old, very big rooms with lots of power outlets.
Very nice.
Last night about 9 I was getting ready to go to bed, lacking only calling my wife to say goodnight. (She was at her senior student goodbye dinner and was out fairly late.)
As I lay there in the bed, there was a knock on the door.
I went over and looked through the hole in the door. There was a man in the uniform of the hotel chain there.
“Can I help you?” I asked through the door.
“Oh, you’re there!” He said. “I just had some questions.”
“OK, give me a sec. I’m not exactly fully clothed.”
“OK,” he said.
I put my clothes back on and opened the door.
No one was there...
I closed the locked the door and then called the front desk.
“Did you just send someone up?” I asked the person who answered the phone.
“That was me. I thought the room was empty and wanted to check.”
“It’s not empty.”
“Did you check in today?”
“No. Yesterday.”
“Did you change rooms?”
“No. Same room since I got here yesterday.”
“Had you extended your stay?”
“No. I was always going to be there Tuesday and Wednesday night.”
“Sorry for the confusion. Something must be wrong with our computer.”
I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world. This is the first time they have ever “forgotten” I was in their room.
Very strange...
