As I’ve said before, I think the unexplained fires at my mother in laws house can be explained as the devil chasing her boyfriend.
Well, I guess after a year of chasing him the devil has given up and asked his old boss to take over.
Lightning hit their place and blew up their VCR.
(Still missed him. Maybe it was a warning shot...)

My wife bought them a new one, and last night we went out to install it.
It is a beautiful drive. You go along a river bank for a lot of it. The leaves are changing with fall. There aren’t many cars once your past the city.
But, their place is the house of itch.
He’s a chain smoker. (Yes, despite having more bypasses then the Boston highway department, he went through 2 cigarettes in the 20 minutes we were there.) They have cats. Their house stays sealed up all the time.
I can usually deal with either smoke or fur if the place is well ventilated. But, there is a coating of both on most of the surfaces there.

We got it installed. It took a bit as I was confused as there was no way to hook up the VCR to the incoming cable. But, I guess they don’t record shows, so it’s OK.

All the way home, my arms felt like there were ants crawling up and down them.
We got home, I took a shower, did laundry and felt immensely better.

I’m glad my mother in law has something to entertain her out there. I just wish it wasn’t so physically painful to go visit her.
