We got up early Saturday and drove off to western Massachusetts.

We’ve been doing the Conbust Science Fiction convention for many years now:

It is nice we’ve gotten to the point of billing on the flyers:

Phoenix swords may be listed last down at the bottom, but we’re above "many more"!

5 years ago I got into a car accident going to this show.

While I do not think I was at fault as I was hit by someone turning right from the left lane, the courts did not agree. (Yes, 5 years, I’m still mad about it.)

The only good news is that they have redesigned the intersection to be a traffic circle so it couldn’t happen again.

We got there in time for a 9AM panel discussion about writing realistic fight scenes. That went well and was fairly interesting. We may end up continuing with several authors who were there. That would be cool.
My wife was very interested in the AV equipment in the class room.

But, that is what she does for a living…

The school itself is going through major renovations.

But, the con locations weren’t hard to find.

We did our historical show in the morning.
The Kid of Glass was there, even if his parent’s weren’t, and I asked him if we could do our fight from Florida.
"Let’s run through it once to make sure I remember, and then I’m good to go," he said.
"If only all our performers where that grown up and professional," my wife said to me later.
He did do a good job.

Others did not fare as well. The couple that took the 4 year break did their first show with us since then, and did have some problems. But, it was a forgiving crowd.

The kid of glass did a demo with one of them and saved the day.

Then, for reasons unknown, the kid of glass became a gargoyle…

I tried to do our Italian demo with one, but the stick I was using disintegrated on me…

The sword worked just fine.

At the end of our show, only some watermelon was left behind.

Between things, my wife and I walked about the campus some.
I have to say, they have the best bike repair station I’ve ever seen.
Wrenches, screw drivers and a tire pump all there for use for free:

And, it is a pretty place.

My wife was fascinated by this old tree stump.

Our second event was teaching a class for people on curved weapons.
I had selected 5 different kinds from over 200 years.
We had 6 wooden replicas for the class to use.

A fair number of people were interested, so they had to take turns.

I had kept the individual moves short, and that seems to have worked out well.
But, when we introduced another, folks ran for the wooden practice swords.

Sometimes we had to explain things again.

But, they seemed to catch on fairly quickly.

Then, off home again.

It’s about a 90 minute drive from home. So, we got home in time I could do our laundry afterwards.
