One of the strange things about the show last week in Florida was how difficult it was to buy things.
There were lots of vendors there. Maybe even more than at the old site.
But, they didn’t seem that interested in selling things.

This isn’t just my opinion. Several of our troupe said the same thing.

My wife intended to buy new boots. There was a boot supplier there she wanted to try.
So, we walked over there.

We went into the booth and started looking at the boots hanging there. The two people working there talked about the pirate show across the path from them, how they felt about the flintlocks being fired, how their dog felt about it, what they were cooking in the oven they brought with them, where they had driven from and why they were at the booth.
Finally, after a lot of this as I sat there on their boot trying bench, my wife asked "so, can I buy some boots?"

They ended up not having any that fit her well.
"You can order some from our owner," the guy said. "Here’s what you tell him."
He wrote a note on a business card and gave it my wife.
"Should I put down some money for it now?" she asked.
"No. Do it when you talk to him."

My wife probably would have paid for them outright in advance. But, they didn’t want to take the money.

We probably spent half an hour in that tent trying to buy boots. No other customers came in while we were there. Lots of boots were hanging on the walls.
You’d think they’d want to make a sale.
Very strange.
