The other afternoon I was feeling a bit hungry. So, I walked up to the lunchroom and got a bag of M&Ms.
As I walked back to my office in the diagonally opposite corner of the building, one of the Indian folks who works from me came in from the side door near the smoking area.
(I don’t know if he smokes or not as he wears so much of something perfumed I can’t tell…)
“You like chocolate?” he asked, pointing to the bag of M&Ms I was carrying.
“Yeah,” I said.
“And, you eat it?”
“Yeah.”
“At work?”
I stopped and looked at him.
“Yes. That’s why there is a snack machine in the lunch room. So, you can get a snack if you want one.”
He looked at me and shook his head.
“Chocolate at work…” he said with a chuckle and walked off to his office.
I’ve worked as an engineer for more than three decades now. This is the first time I’ve ever been questioned for eating chocolate on the job.
He doesn’t even know I track the colors and make charts…
