I finally got my CAD system running again. For those of you counting, I started at 11AM. Friday.
4 tries. Complete wipes, then start over.
Finally I had the IT guy come in and get rid of the locked, hidden and administrative files that I can’t normally access.
Then, it worked.
Now, I can try and get done what I was supposed to get done Friday.

And, it's down again.
But, I got a good 20 minutes of work in.
Over 2 days...

SolidWorks is a CAD package that I know many mechanical engineers who use it. I do not know a single one of them who does not curse at it at least 1X per day. No one likes to try to upgrade it either. When it works, it looks very cool. When it doesn't, it can be incredibly difficult to figure out why.

It is too expensive for me to buy my own personal copy for my 1-man business. I still get by with AutoCAD when I can --

Each release they pile in more stuff. Most of it is not needed. But, they want to justify making people spend $3000 a year on updating.
We hate updating. The revision we just loaded came out a year ago. But, you can't read new version files with an old copy. And, we were sent some drawings we had to read...

It's still not working. No one seems to know why.
Sad.
