God kids visit

Our Godson’s 13th birthday was Saturday. When asked what he’d like to do he said "go somewhere there is snow so he could go sledding."
As we usually have snow in February, so he, his dad and sister set off to visit us for the weekend.

There was a great debate about if we should go to the park where it is free, or to the paid area.
The park is free. The paid area makes extra snow and has a lift to get you up the hill.

My friend Al is a great guy, but cheap.
So, off to the free park we went, even though we had offered to pay.



Al had bought some cheap plastic slides and had some inflatable ones.


Those plastic ones really moved. The inflatable ones were only OK.




The problem with the free area is climbing back up the hill.


It’s a long way up.

About the third trip up, Al turned to me and said "how much is the paid place?"


But, it was a bit hill and fun.


After about an hour of that, we decided to head off. I had been wearing my video sunglasses, here is some of the video if you’re interested.

The park was by the war memorial, so we stopped by that to visit it.


This memorial is different from many as it has letters people killed wrote just before they were killed.


Worth a read.


Then, off to the paid place.


It was nice having a lift that pulled you up to the top.



And, good sledding.



My wife even made some runs.


Ben seemed to enjoy his birthday.


After about an hour the place got more crowded.


When the Frozen people arrived, we left.


We went off to the Cuban restaurant for lunch.

After that, off to the comic shop. We saw some interesting parking…


Then, the comic shop.


I mentioned a dream this week with a tripod lightsaber. They had them at the comic book store. Very strange.


After comics, we stopped at the bakery and got cake and desert that the birthday boy picked out.

This morning they headed off to New Hampshire to visit his grandmother.
It was a good visit, if short, and we had a lot of fun.

He has certainly grown in the couple of months since we've seen him last. But, I'm not good at guessing kids ages, so I can't really say.

Reminds me of the sliding parties we had at my mothers house - up until a few years ago. All my cousins from Rhode Island would come up (with their children, now) and we would relive our glory days of sliding when we were all under the age of 15.. those were the days, for sure!

We don't have these kind of things over here (and also not so much snow either these days)

but yeah, I think the payed place would be my choice also.
