Flora in Winter

After work Friday, we headed over to the Worcester Art Museum for their annual Flora in Winter show.

The show only lasts 4 days as the flowers don’t last long. It opened Thursday with a big party, but we skipped that.

Normally it is very busy and parking is hard to get. But, we were able to park near the place my wife and I met without problem.

And, it wasn’t very crowded inside.


They have two kinds of arrangements. Ones that go with art and ones that are there independent of any specific art.

Then there are a few like this that are inspired by art that isn’t around.

These were inspired by art out in the dark courtyard. Ah well…

The non-specific flower arrangements:




















We thought that one was cool as it had LEDs in the flowers.


I thought this was cool too:


This one by the gift shop got us talking to the woman who did it as she was near it when we stopped to look at the scarves in the store.

It needed to look like the children’s books near it.


They had once more done flowers in the restrooms. My wife and I took the appropriate photos.



Some didn’t seem like a good match for their art.




This one seemed like a good match for the jade item behind it.

But, it was for the gold cup!


While, I think this one is nice, I don’t see it related to the baskets.



This one seemed to be cheating the get the right shape.


This one just seemed to literal.



These just didn’t seem the same scope.

But, at the right angle it seems to grow out of it.





Yeah…



Maybe this one would have worked if they were closer.



Didn’t see this one.


My wife thought this was the manifestation of the representation on the box.
But, it didn’t work for me.


This one didn’t seem to fit well at all.


Some seemed to be a better match.






This seemed to do well with form and inspiration:


These had direction and color.






I thought this captured the "shock and awe" of this one.


This was explained to us to be not just a reflection of the art itself, but of the mind of the art’s subject.



We both thought this one did well.



There was also art we hadn’t seen before.



And, my wife visited her favorite jade.


And, of course, benches!



They even had, on display in the gallery, a book on benches!

I love the art studio one. The white column being the window, and the green whips being the arches in the room, and the flowers representing the students and easels. =)

The photos are in the same directory on my server. So, it shouldn't split like that...

There are about 6 dozen. Maybe it's just jamming on loading them. Even on my own computer it is a slow load...

They're showing up on Microsoft Edge but not on Firefox.

These are really wonderful! I do particularly like the one with the flowers coming from the top of the head, tho.

FWIW, I see all the pictures just fine on my pc running Firefox v50.1
