We got up early and had a nice iHop breakfast.

I think I’ve had breakfast there more in the last month than in the last 5 years. (Twice…)

I’m not saying I played the Pokemon game while we ate. I have no idea how that full Pokeball got in the empty jam packet…

Then, we drove to Salem. I hate Salem. But, the have a very good museum there, the Peabody Essex Museum: http://www.pem.org

They also have more Pokemon supply stations than any other place I’ve seen…

Not all places I’m big on…

We were there to see the special exhibit on Rodin.
Unlike many of their special exhibits, we were allowed to take photos of this one.

One of the things I particularly like about this museum is that they give credit to the folks to make the exhibits.

They had a lot of cool things.

This one was my favorite.

The gift shop had a reproduction of it, but out of my price range. Even the little one…

This one was cool. The plaster base one showed the instructions for altering the brass.

They even had VERY fancy benches!

This guy was everywhere.

This one is famous…

These two I also really liked.

I thought this was cool, especially since they did a live actor recreation.

Outside this exhibit was a cool little thing just sitting there.

I thought this painting was cool.

These versions of the 7 deadly sins was interesting.

We did have trouble telling which sin was which.
Like this one, wasn’t super clear on being lust.

At least until I looked at the money from the side.

Being Salem, you expect a few ghosts…

They also had a very cool exhibit on Childe Hassam’s paintings. Many are watercolors and very cool.

But, not photos allowed.

I did ask for an exception.
I went up to the guard and said "I know it is no photos, but can I take a picture of the title of my favorite one here?"
"I can’t say yes," he replied. "So, I’ll say 'no flash' and look over this way for a minute."

They have a really big installation just down the road.

This is my wife in it.

They were also having a cultural fair in the town green. We bought a basket.

Folks seemed to be having a good time.

It amazes me that people were lining up to get into the Witch Museum.

It is an awful museum…

In the evening I risked the clouds and went out for a walk anyhow.

As I did yesterday, I brought the bike with me. I pushed it up hill to the center of town and then road it back.

I took on the Pokemon gym in the graveyard and managed to defeat all the guards. So, I guess I could have taken it over. But, I have no desire to rule the graveyard.

As I walked along with my bike I saw a car with the trunk open and things stacked around it all over. Two people were looking into it with an unhappy look.
"Are you folks OK?" I asked.
"You are THE FIRST PERSON TO ASK!" the guy shouted.
"It looks like you’re digging for a spare tire," I said. "I can help you change it if you need help."
"We don’t have a tire iron," the woman said. "We’ve looked everywhere."
"I’m afraid I don’t have one with me on my bike," I said.
I offered to call AAA, but they already had, so I continued on.

So, maybe I wasn’t able to help. But, they seemed happy I offered.
They later helped me in the Pokebattle in the graveyard.
So, if I wasn’t walking around for the Pokemon I wouldn’t have been there to offer help.
Not much. But, it’s what I’ve got.

I went to a Rodin exhibit years ago in Calgary. I had the extreme good fortune to arrive just as the curator was about to give a guided tour. It was like I took a whole art history course in one afternoon, as she spoke and shared so much context and information.

I generally avoid the witch museum. It is my least favorite place in Salem, and that's saying a lot.
We did go there 2 years ago with the godkids:

It just isn't a good museum.
