Instead of driving home after the show and not getting in until after midnight and then getting up at 6 to go to work, my wife and I took Monday off and stayed in NJ Sunday night.

So, Monday morning we got up at a good time, had a nice breakfast and set off towards home after all the beach traffic was long gone.

Northern NJ is not as scenic as southern.

Soon we were getting close to NYC again.

And, where there is NYC, there is traffic. Doesn’t matter what time of day or night.

The road splits into two lanes. The left said "Top deck of George Washington bridge 24 minutes", the right "Bottom deck of George Washington bridge 36 minutes".
So, I got in the left lane.
I was lied to.

OK, the actual time on the deck was probably right, but getting there the right lane was totally better.

But, we eventually got there.

And left NJ for NYC.

We took the first exit in Manhattan and looped around to go back under the bridge. It is a nice view.

Then, we stopped at the Cloisters Museum.

It is mostly religious art.

My wife loves tapestries, and they have a bunch.

I liked seeing the swords on them.

And, a unicorn tusk.

And, the famous Jesus on a donkey on wheels.

The museum is right on the river, and has great views.

And, it is in upper Manhattan, so in the city.

And, very nice gardens.

Of course, benches!

They had a nice collection of rings.

They had some playing cards.

They had reproductions of these available, so I got one.

And, that most holy grail..

Not all of the doors are Frank sized.

We had lunch there. The little birds liked the prospect of our lunch.

Then, we took our stuff from the gift shop and set out.

At first, the traffic wasn’t bad.

But…

I have to say, I’ve never seen a traffic jam due to a beachball in the road…

Soon, we were home in Worcester.

Blah, traffic

You are right, though, doesn't matter what time you try to get through NYC, there is horrible traffic somewhere.

Where is the photo of Worcester you took?

The museum looks great - definitely a place I'd visit if I were ever going back to NYC.

It is a very nice museum. Much smaller than the main Met museum. But, a ticket to one gets you into both.

I'd like to visit that museum, it looks like it has a lot of stuff that I'd like to see in person. Those rings! I don't imagine that the double ring would be comfortable!

If you ever make it up this way, we'd be happy to take you to that one. Or, any of the other ones up this way.
