Saturday morning we got there early to set up the tent. It helps that the hotel is walking distance from the show.
Our godkids and their family had come up from MD and helped us out as well as the new family in the troupe.

The wife of our new folks broke her finger practicing at home Friday. My wife and I worried about that, but I guess it wasn’t bad enough to keep her off stage.

When my wife had packed the tent a couple of days before, she found a dead mouse in our storage locker next to our tent.
When we opened the tent we found that it had died in there and dumped it’s innards all over the inside. Not a happy thing.

But, it was a nice sunny day. So we spread things out as much as we could and hoped the smell would fade away…

No one spent time under the tent.

It got air…

We did our sword shows in front of it.

Everyone was very impressed.

We did play a lot of chess away from the smelly canvas.

We did the fights for the main act as well. Costumes were confusing as both the good side and the bad side wore the same colors.

Well, my wife and CJ didn’t.

But, confusing or not it went well and the audience seemed to like it.

This isn’t how things normally end with me and my wife…

It was nice to see our friend of 3 1/2 decades and his daughter, our goddaughter, on stage with us.

During our second historical show I broke one of our new halberds.

There did seem to be a fair number of folks who came to see our show.

Afterwards we went to the local Chinese place as we usually do.

Then, back to the hotel where we had our debriefing meeting.

Boo breaking your halberd. How on Earth....  Was the wood already cracked or something?

It broke where one of the screws went through holding the head on.
The shafts weren't very good, and I knew that from the start. I can put on new shafts without much problem.

Were the godkids at least fascinated with the dead mouse? You could chase them with entrails and see if their expressions change...

My wife found the mouse body when she was packing and threw it out.
So, by the time we got to NJ, all that remained was the smell. A lot of it.
The expression on the kid's faces did change due to that experience. But, not in a good way.

I am somewhat unfair to them in these photos. There are times they look quite happy. They just don't seem to be times I have the camera out.
They are the times that we're actively doing things with them, so no taking photos...

I'm glad the weather was nice there! Shame about your halberd though, is there anything you can do to fix it?

I'll replace the shaft. Not too hard to do. Just annoying.
