My wife and I are going to visit Australia at the end of the year/start of next year.

Her package got here today and was amazing!

Including Wombat stamps! One of the things we’ve said we want to see for sure is Wombats, so that was particularly great!

And, as great as the outside was, the inside had all sorts of cool things too!

I’m glad we have a good bit of time until we get there as it will take a while to read through all this!
Thanks again!

Thinking about you wanting to see wombats (and other Australian animals) I think if you have time the best zoo to go to in Melbourne would be Healesville Sanctuary.
It's about an hour from the city in a beautiful area called the Yarra Valley.

and if you are up that way you can go and have afternoon tea at the chocolate factory - they have lots of chocolate with Australian bush flavours

BUT ... if you are going to Phillip Island to see the penguins they have an animal park on Phillip Island that has all the animals - so you could spend an afternoon there and then the evening with the penguins

Philip Island also have a chocolate factory - personally I think the Yarra Valley one is better :D

I haven't been to Healesville Sanctuary or the Phillip Island Animal Park. I have been to the Melbourne Zoo - they do have Australian animals but I think you can interact with them better at Healesville (not sure about Phillip Island)
I have seen Australian Animals many many times though and they are most definitely worth the effort to see :)

They also mention that chocolate place near them. So we were thinking of that being one of the days on our calendar.
We're not so sure about penguins. They are common here at zoos and aquariums. So, we've seen them a lot. And, neither my wife nor I have come away saying "we need to see more of them".
I've got nothing against them. But, I don't think I've ever seen a wombat in person...
