Sunday we got up early, again, and drove to the University of Massachusetts Renaissance center, again. This time to perform at their May Faire.

We got there early to get the tent going.

Just about the time we got the tent up, it began to rain.

A student from the school wandered by as we were setting it up. We pulled out the top and he said "Hey! This is THE TENT from the web site!"
So, our tent is famous.

This guy:

And, the tent is a good place to go in the rain.

The Morris dancers were still there.

Our folks came out for the show.

I thought this one of me throwing the spear at John came out particularly well.

Then, back in the tent to hide from the rain.

It’s hard to catch rain on the camera, but you can see it on the tent.

Despite the rain, I’m told the count of folks there was more than 950.

Mid-Afternoon the rain was worse, so we did our second show in the garage. Yes, the book sale was still going on there at the time.

For the last show of the day the rain had let up a little, so we were back outside.

We packed stuff up and headed home. The second day there, in rain and cold, did leave us feeling pretty drained. We were both glad to get back home and go to bed.

i'm curious about your strange rolled up looking hat. i've never seen anything like it. is there a history to it?

sorry about the rain. i've spend an entire day in the rain at a renaissance festival. but i have rubber boots and a nice homemade cloak.

This is the hat:

As it is a replica from paintings, tapestries and statues it isn't 100% clear how it was actually made.
One person recently told me it might be one of the old style very long hoods rolled up to fit on your head that way. He showed me with a hood, and it did come out looking like that.
But, that isn't how mine is made...

Of course your tent is famous, it's fabulous! I love it :)

Sorry to hear about the rain. If only there was a way that I could have all of the rain while you are doing shows. We really need it and it's just a pain in the bum for you!

The simple answer is to have us perform something for you when we come to visit...

Despite the rain the photos came out really well. The weather has no effect on the pros, that's what it looks like.

There was that show in 2008 with the waterspouts where we took over the coast guard tent for our show after they went home because of bad weather...

After reading this I see why a bit of rainy weather can't touch your sword group.
