Every year the Worcester Art Museum has a "Flora in Winter" exhibit where they bring in floral arrangers to display flowers inspired by the art.

It is something that my wife and I like quite a bit, and always try and attend. You can see my posts about it for the past several years:

It is, by far, the busiest we ever see the museum. It is often difficult to even get in with the crowds. Sometimes we’ve had to park several streets away as all the parking nearby is full.

So, this year we decided to try going Friday night and see if that would be better than the opening party Thursday night, or during the day Saturday.
We both left early and headed over about sunset.

It was still fairly busy. But, nothing like those other times.

One of the big topics of discussion my wife and I always have is how well we feel the flowers match the art.

So, this year I’ve decided to ask you opinion about it.
That means a lot of quizes. We’ll see how that works.

This one always gets a display near it. What do you think?

[Poll #2035192]

I don’t remember this one getting one before.

[Poll #2035193]

It must be hard trying to match a hard stone carving…

[Poll #2035194]

The staircase one is just decorative and doesn’t have anything to match.

I like this painting. It didn’t have any flowers matching it. But, I still like it.

This one generated a lot of discussion with other people in the room about the second person in the painting. Hard to make them out.

[Poll #2035195]

Soup?

[Poll #2035196]

It turns out I wasn’t supposed to take a photo of the soup one. That whole gallery is now "no photo". That was news to me. The young woman minding it explained they only changed that a short time ago and few people realize it.
So, there was one I didn’t get a photo of in the same gallery. But, it wasn’t a good match, so no loss.

This is another one where I just like the painting. You can try and stand in the same spot these days and see the same view. But, to do it you need to stand in the middle of a busy road. I’ve tried, but not been able to get a photo…

[Poll #2035198]

[Poll #2035199]

Some more that were general decoration and not tied to specific pieces.

I do not remember other years trying to tied them to the armor…

[Poll #2035200]

While near the armor, I did stop and visit my favorite sword. Still no "for sale" sign on it…

[Poll #2035201]

Look! Benches!

[Poll #2035202]

Not trying to influence the vote, but my wife and I liked this one.

[Poll #2035203]

It was not immediately clear to me which this one was supposed to go with. It is the bottom center one…

[Poll #2035204]

This one certainly drew a crowd…

[Poll #2035205]

[Poll #2035206]

Another painting I like. No flowers to go with it. (At least this year…)

Big painting…

[Poll #2035207]

[Poll #2035208]

This one was hard to get near and I did not manage to get a photo without someone having a body part in view…

[Poll #2035209]

More decoration.

Another one where it was not immediately clear to me what it was matching. The vase in the background on the right…

[Poll #2035210]

[Poll #2035211]

If you look at this one at the right angle it looks like a continuation of the screen.

[Poll #2035212]

This is a very stern Buddha.

[Poll #2035213]

More decoration

We did not go in the shop… I know, hard to believe, isn’t it?

Once again, hard matching a statue.

[Poll #2035214]

Even harder matching a room…

[Poll #2035215]

Or, a bowl…

[Poll #2035216]

Sadly, this year they did not decorate the bathrooms.

While that does let you use them without interruption, I miss them doing that.

Having toured them all, we put our admission sticker on the display and left.

It was a nice warm, for winter, night out.

Festive police lights filled the area.

(They were guarding the cross walk with all the folks coming and going to the museum. But, the light was blinding and I found it difficult to walk without looking away.)

The engineering school I attended is just up the hill from the museum and was well lit.

Going Friday night seems to be a good way to avoid the biggest crowds. Going to have to remember that for next year!

Well, if you're ever in the Worcester area, I'd be happy to show you where it is displayed...

I had not realized how much work the voting would be when I started.
But, I'm stubborn so continued to put the quizzes there...
Sorry for that.

It is my favorite of the things they put on each year.
And, clearly I'm not alone as it is always crowded there!
