This weekend we might get a big snow storm. If we do it might be as much
as a foot (30cm) of snow.
Or, it might be less than an inch (2cm).

The weather forecasts are less than totally useful in this regard:

I have to admit, I love this line from the forecast:
“If that wasn’t enough, some or all of the largest cities in the Northeast
- Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston - could
be significantly impacted by this storm with heavy snow and strong winds,
bringing travel to a grinding halt, between Friday afternoon and Sunday
morning.”

Any forecast that starts with “If that wasn’t bad enough” is going to be
something. And, "Travel grinding to a halt" is more specific than normal...

All sorts of things for the weekend are cancelling now. My haircut has
already been pushed back a week. We’re thinking of cancelling sword
practice. (OK, only one other person was going to be able to make it this
Sunday anyhow, and we were considering cancelling before we heard about the
snow.)

Also, several airlines have gotten it into their head that my wife and I
like to fly places. While that is true, I think they over estimate about
financial ability to do so.

But, there are things that are tempting.
Right now airfare to Iceland is only $375 a person. That’s really low.

So, I suggested to my wife we fly to Iceland Friday night and back Sunday
after the storm has passed. We could keep our cars in the airport garage
so they wouldn’t need to be cleaned.
No, we can’t really afford that.
But, I like the idea of hiding from a snow storm in Iceland.

My wife has, very correctly, pointed out it is not worth $1000 to avoid
digging out our cars, even if we get the worst of the storm.

That’s very true. But, not as much fun.

Would be fun to go to Iceland, though. :D

But who knows ... maybe the storm gets there as well!

Yeah, this is going to be interesting. I would love to make hiking plans but I dare not at the moment. I really do not want to be driving back from NH on Saturday afternoon/evening into a Nor'easter.

We are thinking of sneaking out on Friday to lay in a supply of tasty Indian food.

And it's not worh 1000.00 dollars to escape the bathroom cleaning either. LOL

There's a volcano, so it will all melt!
Right?

I really like the way you think about riding out a storm. I'm sad, I'll admit, that you're not actually going to do it.

I am ever grateful to the gulf stream. Serious snow (more than four inches) is a very rare occurrence in my part of the world. A good thing, as our infra isn't geared for it.

I was listening to an item on the radio the other day that said that Moscow has 15000 snow clearing vehicles on duty during bad weather. I don't think there are that many in the UK.

Fascinating plan….Wish I'd thought of it.

But can't afford it either. Not now especially with my car mushed.
*eye roll*

At our apartment complex, they have been 'proactive' this year by sectioning off a good portion of the corner of the
visitor spaces at the end of the street, with notices on every door mentioning "this are is set aside for snow storage"
(interesting use of the word "storage" but I digress). They also mentioned any cars left there could/would be towed at owner's
expense.

Last year after the 3 feet and the additional foot the next week, the snow plowing company set up cones and roped off this corner,
which because somewhat obvious that this was now the designated "we will dump snow here" corner.
The pile got so tall, by the end of the snow-hell, it had nearly reached the top of the stone wall / stone hillside that was blasted/drilled to make
that corner. Probably an easy 10 feet or more up there.

I really really really hope this year isn't like last year.
*sigh* can only sit and wait to see what the weather will do.
