Thursday we got up and had a nice breakfast or two.

Then, we got ready for the day.

I do like the balcony.

We drove over to my cousin’s place. Some of the stores around Orlando strike me as strange.

We stopped to get material for cookies and brownies.

(And, caffeine…)

My cousin collected [livejournal.com profile] mariness and we headed off to where the new ferris wheel is.

First we decided to go to the new aquarium there.

It doesn’t take up too much room, but they do pack a lot in.

I am not the only one in my family who finds benches at museums…

They had some things that were computer animated displays of whale sharks.

I understand very few places have whale sharks. But, I was surprised they didn’t show actual footage of them instead of computer animations.

Yes, Santa scuba divers.

Talking to "Santa" later, he said the hardest part was putting on the wet Santa costume.

My cousin had arranged for us to get a backstage tour.

After the first few questions we asked, the woman giving the tour looked at us with a strange look.
"You folks aren’t biologists or something, are you?" she asked.
"I used to be part of a university marine biology program," [livejournal.com profile] mariness said.
"My wife and I used to work at a museum with a zoo section," I said, pointing to the two of us.
She paused to see if we were joking or something.
"Just so you know, I’m an actress and singer they hire to do the tours," she said.
We all agreed that was cool and the tour progressed.

It was nice seeing where they prepare the food and such.

But, seeing the tops of all the tanks was my favorite part.

Then, off to the gift shop that seemed to have a lot of pink pirate things. I didn’t buy any.

(At some Phoenix Swords shows I play a pirate in a pink shirt who tries to convince people it is red…)

Then, off to the giant ferris wheel.

You can get a good view from there.

Then, we went out for dinner.

Some folks take signs very seriously. The lane said "right lane must turn right", so this guy drove up onto the sidewalks. He seems to have figured out that isn’t what it meant and drove back off.

My wife and I headed back to the hotel after that.

As it was still quite warm, I decided to go swimming in the pool.

(Yes, based on the weather report I had packed my waterproof camera…)

They have some waterfalls that fall into the pool with a surprising amount of force.

No problems getting to sleep that night.

I think every major city/tourist area must have one of those observation wheels now

I have seen behind the scenes at the Melbourne Aquarium. It's really great to see the tops of the tanks, isn't it? When I went there was a large but shallow tank where an injured ray was isolated. It was cool to see it up close.

The waterfalls look lovely!

Nope at the Ferris wheel, but it does look pretty cool. That is so neat getting to go behind the scenes at the aquarium. =)
