Wales trip with photos, part 7
Dec. 6th, 2015 01:20 pmThe advantage of the hotel at the Cardiff airport is you don’t have to go far to get to your plane. We returned our car and went the 1/4 mile to the airport.
It was another windy, rainy day.

So, we waited in the Cardiff airport.

I think I planned things out well. In the airport on our last day I got the warning I had used up most of my international data plan.

And, I was down to my list few pounds.

Sadly, we we waited as the display kept giving later and later times for our flight.

The time we should have taken off arrived, still no plane outside.

Finally, more than 2 hours late, our plane got there.

It was very windy outside.
Enough to make the news.

The plane was bouncing up and down, even as it sat on the ground
I was very worried about our connecting flight. The schedule called for 3 hours between flights and we were taking off 2 1/2 hours late.

As we landed in Dublin, I could see our plane still there.

We ran across the airport and got through immigrations, customs and security in record time.
And, got on the plane just before they closed it.

Two others got on after us, then off we went.

One of the things that was cool was we took off over Newgrange. (The circle down there.)

My wife and I went there on our honeymoon 19 years ago.
We chased the sunset across the ocean.

It did eventually get away from us, but lasted far longer when we were going after it.
I tried watching several movies over the 7 hour flight. But, my in-flight screen kept crashing.

Every time it did, it had to reboot taking about 15 minutes.

It didn’t seem to happen to anyone else’s screen…
Eventually, we landed in Boston…

The problems started when we waited for our luggage.

It was clearly a problem when everyone else had gone, and the luggage carousel stopped.

So, we had to go and fill out the forms for lost luggage.

This was when I realized our keys were still in the luggage and we couldn’t drive our car home from the airport.
I ended up renting a car. We drove home. Called the apartment office to send someone to open our door. Paid the $50 for him to do it and then were home.
Yay.
The next morning was a work day. So, we got up and went in to work.

Breakfast at home was not the same.

In the afternoon I got the call our luggage had crossed the Atlantic. I drove back to Boston, returned the rental car and got our luggage.

And, our keys!

I went over to the garage, got our car and went home.

It was a great trip.
But, it was good to be home too.

Date: 2015-12-07 11:07 am (UTC)Did you complain about your screen? We complained once as Cameron's wasn't working (we were nice about it) and they couldn't do enough for us - they brought Cameron a good bottle of wine to drink from First Class, a pair of first class pj's .. they kept bringing the kids extra hot chocolates and lolly packs .. Then the kids got a tour of the cockpit after we landed - it was quite awesome all because we politely asked if they could do anything to fix our screen. (We were flying Qantas .. 16 hour flight to the US .. you need a screen!)
So happy you had a good time - I wish you could have both taken longer off work but still you saw so much in your short time. I'm now going to look at all your other photos.

Date: 2015-12-07 12:54 pm (UTC)I did not complain about the screen. It rebooted each time it crashed, so I was able to watch the movies. But, it was annoying.
Maybe I should have complained...
