Once breakfast was done we set off in the rain. It was after dawn, but before the mail arrived.

Our first stop was at Conwy Castle. It was very close to where we stayed and only took us about 15 minutes to get there.

And, that’s down some narrow roads.

To get from the parking area to the castle you have to go under the train tracks in a tunnel that reminded me of a Doctor Who episode from last season.

Fortunately we were not chased by any 2D people…

Then, you have to scale the town walls.

But, they do provide stairs. That does make it much easier.

Then, you walk along the top of the city walls to get to the castle!
That is really, really cool!

But, also very, very windy. The wind was gusting up to 70mph/116kph. That’s hurricane level.

We’re not the kind of people prone to blowing away, so up along the walls we went.

With stops for photos.

The view was very nice.

Of course, I spotted an interesting shop across the street:

We did not go in. Maybe next time.

Then, the castle.

It is a very nice and impressive castle.

It is interesting to me that they built an extension to the castle for the train to go through.

In those winds, we didn’t got up to the tops of the towers. Even though the stairs looked better than some we had seen.

And, we could see that the storm outside was getting worse.

Some of the signs we found interesting.

I can’t help but do the Homer Simpson "D’oh" every time I see the one on the right.

We did listen to this sign. Deep well.

The town outside the castle looked very interesting. Maybe some other trip we’ll spend more time there.

We did hear folks shouting from the top of the towers and walls. A few that bordered on screams.
We told the folks who worked there and they said "We’ll go up and see if it is safe for folks."
At our next stop we heard they had shut it down because of the wind.
So, I’m glad we went there first and got in before they closed it down.

But, the camera was literally dripping with water from the blowing rain. So, on our way to our next stop I worked on drying it out…

It wasn't on the schedule.
We had a very specific schedule.

Maybe some other trip.

It was more windy that we expected.
But the temperature and rain were pretty much what we had planned to have.
So, we packed appropriate clothes.

Wow. Lovely. I am glad you got to see it before the wind shut it down.
