England is not far from chepstow.

Just go across the bridge.

And, there you are.

I’m not sure it is as pretty as Wales is. (The other side of the same river…)

But, there are still many sheep.

It is a nice drive.

20 months ago when I was last there we drove through Bath. So, I knew the traffic was bad. But, we had not stopped at the baths in Bath, so I only had a vague idea where they were.
Google got us to the city without much problem. But, started taking us in circles once we got there.

Finally we parked, got out and walked. Google said it wasn’t far.

And, this time anyhow, Google was right.

The reason we couldn’t drive to it is that it is right in the middle of a big shopping area where they don’t allow cars. So, Google put us in an infinite loop going around trying to get there…

But, we found it and it is very nice.

They have an extensive museum attached with lots of interesting things.

They have lots of Roman coins from some hordes found nearby.

Some of the original Roman folks are still there and part of the tour. Granted less than active part…

It’s nice to have a museum where you can touch things.

I would have paid to get in just to see this.

Of course, the spring and baths are still there.

They have costumed folks working there.

Their job seems to be up-sell you the banquet they have there. Maybe some other trip.
It seems like all our late fall trips involve us walking on glass walkways…

OK, last year’s was higher up..

Once we finished we had the problem of "where did we park?"

But, when we came out of the garage there was a pie shop with some nice meat pies.
I found that again no problem.
And, from there, our car.
So, my stomach saved the day!
From there we drove off to the hotel in lovely Swindon.
OK. It was to set us up for the next morning. I've got nothing against Swindon. I'm sure it is very nice. But, it is also near things we wanted to see.

Date: 2015-12-06 12:59 pm (UTC)They do have a place where it is filtered and you can drink it.
It tastes like bath water. But, what do you expect...

Date: 2015-12-06 03:09 pm (UTC)For whatever reason I thought it was 'just' the bathhouse building
maybe it's because so many friends/people I know who've gone there always post pictures about the bath itself and
how one is not supposed to drink/touch the water in it. *shrug*
Anyway…Cool stuff.
