Week in photos
Sep. 19th, 2015 06:58 pmMy morning commute is now right at sunrise. This can be blinding.

Monday my wife and I went to the eye doctor for our checkup.

I don’t know if it is good planning or irony about who is next to our eye doctor.

The eye drops the doctor uses make my eyes very blurry.
So, while waiting to be called back into the exam, I played a game that is OK blurry. (Auditorium)

The drops leave my eyes dilated to everything looks VERY bright.

This photo adjusted to how it looked to me as we exited the building.

We went up to one of our favorite restaurants, O’Connors. I am not sure about the sign they put up…

(It meant they had tape on the handles.)
This week has been dry and warm.

Coming home the other day I thought there was some sort of emergency in the center of town.

But, it turned out to be fire folks who didn’t want to wait for traffic and pulled out into it.
Sad really.
At least the sunrises are nice.

But, more and more trees are showing sings of fall.

Today we got up fairly early and headed into Worcester.

We dropped off all the sword stuff at our storage place and headed to my wife’s work.

We got some storage bins on the way.

Then, we headed up to my wife’s office.

Last week my wife was moved from the Library department to the IT department to join other folks in a "educational technology" department.
A new person has been assigned to be in charge of that department and they are taking my wife’s office as their own.
My wife’s office is very nice. And, for the 8 years she has had it we know it has been coveted by many people. The protection has been that it is inside a student lab and therefore busy and noisy. No one wanted to deal with that, so she kept it.

But, the new person claims not to care about that. (They’ve only seen it during summer break, so it isn’t clear if they really understand.) So, they’re taking the office.
My wife has been offered some "wonderful" choices for her new office.

So, today we went there to get all of her personal stuff out of there.

There was also 8 years of things to throw away.

It was a very nice day out. Our original plan had been to go visit our friends in New Hampshire and swim in their lake today. Nice and warm. Sunny.
Ah well.

We packed things in the car and set off back to storage.

My wife and I then went to lunch.

We had a long discussion about the rattlesnake skins along the ceiling.

We asked the waitress and she asked the manager.
She says they’re all real.

Sadly, that creeped her out and gave her "the willies".
Then, back to get the last of the things.

It was very sad. My wife loved that office. The job doesn’t pay well and can be trying for her at times. But, having a really nice office made it better for her.
Ah well, what can you do?
I hope she doesn’t end up in the closet after the final decision Monday.

Date: 2015-09-19 11:41 pm (UTC)Although, now hopefully she doesn't have to deal with rodents?
Maybe that and the noise will have the new person soon vying for a new office and Malterre can snag it again?
…Maybe having the recent Trouble-Student sent to the new person to annoy them and get his parents to get them to move offices?
(yeah maybe not a good idea…Nuclear Option perhaps…)

Date: 2015-09-20 12:49 am (UTC)The current theory is they are a threat to someone in the power structure and being relocated here to get them out of the way. The nice office is being used as proof it isn't a demotion for them.
Yeah, the 6'x12' closet would not be a nice choice. The only advantage is you could hide in there an no one could come in to find you...

Date: 2015-09-20 04:38 am (UTC)In my current job, I was first given a cubicle near a large fan intake, and it was on the "main highway" through the cubicle farm. It was noisy and very distracting to try to get work done. My boss made me move so that I could be next to my technician (there were (2) cubicle offices near each other) in another part of the large room, but now we are directly under an extremely loud loudspeaker that is used for doing public addresses/paging in the building. Someday, I'm going to splice in some resistors to cut the volume down on that thing before it gives us a heart attack

Date: 2015-09-20 11:41 am (UTC)It's so annoying when emergency services flaunt the rules for their own benefit.
Sorry about your wife's office. It certainly was very nice. Fingers crossed she gets a semi-decent one.

Date: 2015-09-20 02:51 pm (UTC)I had those eye drops as a child. The best about it was when the effect wore off.

Date: 2015-09-23 06:24 pm (UTC)and those stupid eye dilating drops always lasted the whole rest of the day for me no matter how quickly they SAID they'd wear off.
