My eyes have seen the glory

My wife and I went to the eye doctor today. It’s been 5 years since the last: http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/377036.html
The good news is my eyesight is still good. Normal in my right eye. Slightly nearsighted in my left. While slightly worse than 5 years ago, not at all much.
I do need reading glasses for things up close, but figured that out on my own a couple of years ago.
The doctor tried to get me to wear bifocals even though I don't need vision correction for most things.
"They would be optically flat for most, but have reading glass areas for up close."
"So, I’d wear glasses all the time to make the 5% of the time I need them easier?"
"Yes!"
"No."
I understand he makes money off of the glasses. But, he’s selling ones to my wife and that will have to be enough.
The real good news is my eye pressure is down. 5 years ago it was borderline and he didn’t know if that was a high part of the cycle or the low.
Today is was lower and he said there is no damage to the eye at all, so he is sure I don’t have a problem.
The only bad side is that, like 5 years ago, my eyes took a long time to go back to normal. He told me 2-3 hours was normal. 4-5 was what it took.
But, it means I got to work from home from the afternoon. And, call in to a staff meeting in my underwear.
(All together now: How it got in my underwear I will never know…)

Date: 2015-09-17 12:18 am (UTC)I had an optometrist try to talk me into buying bifocals too. I cannot see things in the distance very well but she was convinced that I also needed glasses for working on the computer because my current glasses would make that difficult. Simple (and cheaper) solution: I take my glasses off when I spend long periods of time looking at the computer.
