Explode-O-Bowl
Aug. 29th, 2015 11:11 pmThis morning I was loading the dishwasher after I cooked breakfast.
As is often the case, I started with the bowl and pan things I put in the upper shelf.
I filled the upper shelf and slid it into the dishwasher, and then started filling the lower rack.
As I was putting silverware into the lower rack, there was a loud crack noise and one of the bowls on the upper shelf disintegrated.
Much of it remained up there in large chunks, but lots of tiny glass pieces rained down into the base of the dishwasher.
It is a bowl we’ve had for at least 20 years. It was one of a set. One of the others broken when dropped off the counter at least 15 years ago. But, the others have never had a problem.
I don’t see how my putting forks in the rack below would have made it break. But, as I said, this wasn’t a crack, this was break into a few dozen pieces all at once.
I ended up getting the shop vac and cleaning the dishwasher out. Hopefully I got all the glass.
It was very strange.
