Luau, fire show and practice

Yesterday was a bit damp when we set off.


We dropped off food for the luau, picked up things at storage and headed out to practice.


We tried to charge our solar powered lights for the show. But, the cloudy day didn’t help.


The practice ground appears to have grown a cat.


It was clear that we weren’t getting a charge.


But, then it became interested in our plague of locust and payed more attention to that.


Our new members arrived. They tell me their kids look forward to coming to sword practice all week long.

I guess it is because their parents let them take naps.

We were, after all, practicing for the night fire show.



Then, back through the damp Worcester to the show.


It was at a friend of a friends house, with food by cissa so a small crowd of folks we knew and their kids.


cosmicirony finished up the cooking.


It was VERY good food.

My egg rolls went over well and I got several compliments on them.

We broke out the festive LED pineapple for the first time since Mobile last November.


I was a bit worried about the steep decline in the lawn.


So we used the LED lights that charged to mark where it got steep.

Only 2 of them got stepped on by performers…

I took a bunch of IR video.


And, some visible light.



I had propped the IR camera on the side and set it filming. What I didn’t realize is that after I set it down it settled into the grass of the lawn. So, the video is a bit strange.
I’ve trimmed the 22 minute show to under 3 minutes of what I think are highlights. (Minus my wife’s bit that is very good. But, some fool, me, was standing in front of the camera for that part…)

It was fun. But, we got home very tired. It was a busy day.

Cooking it makes is softer both in flavor and texture.

How do you keep the swords ablaze?

The way the swords are built there is a kevlar wick that runs down the center.
So, you can still use the edge, and have fire in the middle.
