Back from KY, in pictures
Jul. 7th, 2008 09:22 pmThe drive back from KY went pretty fast, considering it was 900 miles.
It had been a very foggy morning. In KY we had to slow down as the fog was very deep in the valleys.

We left early and got to see the sun rise over Cincinnati.

In KY and Ohio, there seem to be lots of big bugs. We had a whole collection splattered on the windshield.

We stopped for breakfast at Waffle House in Ohio. My wife decided to sleep rather than have breakfast.

That afternoon we stopped at a Golden Corral for their all you can eat buffet in Erie PA.

They also had chocholate covered rice crispy treats, which none of us had seen before.

Because the gas pig didn’t do so well with milage, we ran without the AC on. So, we stopped every once in a while to let the hot air out.

There are reasons I never grow a beard. This is me after 3 1/2 days of not shaving.

While it is true that I would have enjoyed the trip more if it had been closer, upstate New York is very pretty.

I was still happy to see the Mountains of MA again.

I remain glad we went. I just wish there was a faster way to cross the country that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Once going to visit a friend who at the time was working in Hudson NY, I took the Pike out to NY, and mistakenly got on the Taconic Freeway and didn't realize I missed the intended turn, I ended up on Poughkeepsie before I realized how out of whack I was - I was too mesmerized by the great scenery on that road (as well as *no* safe place to turn around it seemed at the time)
Although on another adventure - a trip to AlbaCon - I did also enjoy that drive, and I thought Albany was nice, what little I got to see.
I always like seeing the mountains in WMass on the Pike - the stretch between Ludlow and Palmer, and Palmer to Sturbridge I like.
