Long overdue practice photos
Jan. 21st, 2015 09:19 pmSunday we had our weekly sword practice. It was not a nice day.
There had been just a little bit of snow, then rain, then it froze, then more rain.

So, you had mud covered in ice with rain water on it. Slippery.

But, this is why we rent a garage for sword practice. 2/3 of the year we can be out on the lawn, but that 1/3 I’m happy to be indoors.

And, that "jet engine" heater is great, if loud.

Tom was there and quick to try on the new helmet I got for Jose.

Jose did eventually show up himself.

It does suit him.

But, if Jose Luis Alvarez-Rodriguez can’t pull off wearing a Spanish helm, no one is going to.
Tom and I have been doing the same sword fight at shows for about 11 years now. We like it. It gets good reviews. If folks get bored watching it again and again at shows, no one has ever said anything about it.
So, we’re trying to teach it to Jose.
The fight is in 5 parts. We’re trying to do it so I do 1,3&5 with Jose and Tom does 2&4 with him.

He’s doing OK. But, he hasn’t been doing it for as many years as we have, so he’s still having a bit of trouble with it.

(I should mention this is the 4th time we’ve done this by teaching it to him. He doesn’t do it for a year or two and forgets it and we have to reteach him. So, we’re not expecting him to come up to speed from zero on it.)
Tom also worked some with Casey. It’s unclear if they’ll have a fight or not by the show.

Anyhow, the animated gifs seemed popular last week, so here are some more:
Some of those things will be on fire in performance...
