In December we traveled 7000 miles/11000km, not counting all of the going to work, the store and such of daily life.
But, over the last week at the end of the month and start of January, we haven’t gone more than 6 miles/10km from the house.

I’ve got no problem with that either. It’s been nice staying home and not having to race to the airport and back.

A week ago [livejournal.com profile] cissa & [livejournal.com profile] cosmicirony had us over to their house along with a few others for dinner.
It was very nice.
Cosmicirony is a blacksmith, so cooks with a torch.

(We were assured it was not a welding torch. But, so what if it was, it still tasted great!)

I guess where I like to parking in our apartment complex lot is where the maintenance men like to park. Normally not a problem as I leave before they get here in the morning and come back after they go home. But, when I have the week off, I take their spot.
I’m not 100% happy with how they backed the snowplow into the spot next to me.

I was still able to get out, but it was a close thing with that blade right on the line.

Tuesday was my wife’s birthday. To celebrate we met my aunt and her husband for lunch, and then went to my wife’s cousin’s house for dinner.

Hopefully she had a good time!

Friday [livejournal.com profile] yebo hosted a Star Wars miniature game night at his place.
So, as the moon rose, I set off for it.

I ended up dropping one of the things I was going to bring and had to come back for it.
Good think he is only 3miles/5km away.

But, we got there and I set up all my ships.

The first thing we did was play "The great TIE fighter race".

None of us got to the other side of the table.

[livejournal.com profile] perrin_o_ravnos was going to attend, but got stuck in the battle of the 5 armies, so while that went on, we played some cards to wait for his arrival.

Then, back to the Star Wars game when he arrived.

[livejournal.com profile] yebo, [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo and I were playing the alliance against the others. But, our big ship was out of commission and needed repair. The empire had to capture or destroy it before we could repair it.

Those Sith can be hard to beat.

There was much pondering.

The empire did win in the end.
But, they’re good sports about it.

Tomorrow is the last day of this very long time off my wife and I have had from work. 12 days off. I think that is the most we’ve had off together since our honeymoon back in the 90’s. (We’ve both been out of work at times since then. Fortunately not at the same time, and it isn’t really a vacation when that happens.)

Today we went off to one of the Chinese restaurants we like for lunch.

It must be good if folks from Alaska drive here to eat there…

OK, I have no idea why this guy drove the thousands and thousands of miles to get here. We don’t see many plates from there on this coast…

So, that’s it. Mostly staying home. Playing a lot of World of Warcraft, watching movies and TV shows and eating food.
Not a bad vacation at all.
