Saying goodbye to 2014

I haven’t had a lot to say the last few days. After a fairly busy December, the last week has been pretty quiet.
There have been several days where the only time we’ve left the house at all is to go to the market to get something for dinner.
And, I’m totally OK with that. I think we’ve earned some rest.
On Tuesday we did go out a few places for my wife’s 50th birthday. We met my aunt and her husband for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. Then, picked up Chinese food from one of our other favorites and went to her cousin’s for dinner.
Our travels back, forth, up and down across the continent have clearly confused the weather.
Cold and wet weather tend to follow us wherever we go. That is just something we’ve come to accept over the years.
But, there is apparently a lag.
While the temperature in Florida did drop 20F/10C when we got there, there was only one short rainstorm. The rest was OK.
The same was true at the Grand Canyon. They got rain, but only for a short time at night.
And, what they thought was cold we were OK with.
But, by New Years it was snowing in Las Vegas. The clouds must have thought we’d go back for New Years and were waiting…
Here it has been fairly warm and clear all week. 50F/10C, which is much warmer than the usual below freezing.
Even the squirrels have decided to stay out. Or maybe it is just our dumpster full of holiday food they can’t resist.

The leaves off the trees have also shown us what has been hovering over our car all year.

Glad it didn’t fall on our roof!
I’m told somewhere in this photo of Orion I took at my wife’s cousin’s is a comet.

I can’t see it.
Anyhow, Happy New Year to all. Goodbye 2014!
