I had my annual physical today.
It is another new doctor. 19 years with the same doctor, then one
appointment with her replacement and now the replacement for the
replacement as the second one ran off too.
They asked me who my appointment was with when I got there and I told them
I would remember the name if they stuck around for more than one
appointment, and not before.

The new doctor seems very nice. She certainly talked with me more about my
medical history than the last one. I guess that’s good. Or, it means she
didn’t do the pre-reading and the other did.

The records show I lost 25 pounds (11.3kg) since last year.
I know that isn’t true. My clothes and belt fit the same as last year and
they wouldn’t if I had taken off that much. I had actually feared I had
put on some as my job no longer involves going up and down stairs many
times a day as it did at the last place.
Last year I was very surprised at how much their said I had gained and
couldn’t understand it.
So, I suspect what happened is they measured it wrong last year. If so,
then I’m been holding fairly steady the last few years.
My clothes and belt support that theory.

But, I am still considered way too fat for the medical industry. Of
course, if you can’t be used as a bookmark you’re way too fat, and I’d bust
the spine of any book I own.

As always my blood pressure was high. As always it dropped more than 20
points over the course of the examination. I’ve tried to explain to them
that going there shoots it up. My meter at home certainly supports this
theory.

They want to do a sleep test on me to test for sleep apnea. I’ve had
breathing problems my whole life, and told her that. It is not restricted
to sleep. I’ve failed lie detector tests and caused much worry in
hospitals due to my lack of breathing properly.
That has been true for decades and has nothing to do with my age or weight.
But, if they want to test, let them test.

I went to have the blood drawn for all the other tests.
The woman who runs the lab strapped my arm down and started getting ready.
“Do you have your insurance card?” her assistant asked.
“Yes, but..” I started to say.
“Don’t tell me you left it in your car!” The lab woman said. “I hear so
many people say that I’m sick of it!”
“But, it is in my pocket and you’ve tied my arm down to draw blood, so I
can’t reach it right now,” I continued.
“Oh,” she said, releasing my arm. “It’s good you have it with you.”
I handed it over and the process resumed.

We had a talk about which blood vials she likes to use. I was very
interested as that is some of what my robot freezer might store in the
future.

Baring some problem in the blood tests, I’m OK for another year.
Yay.

Yay being free for a year! I hope the sleep tests come back negative. The cpap machine they make you use for sleep apnea is a miserable thing.

How rude!

Having worked in patient care for the last 14 years, I thought she was very rude!

Anyway...If you're concerned about weight yourself (can't tell, but just in case), I can tell you from chiropractic experience that when you lose 1 lb, you take 10 lbs of pressure off your spine.

Blood pressure: once I hit 50, mine shot up. For me, the answer was to watch the sodium in processed foods and use sea salt or buy sea salted products instead of regular salt. Mine dropped to normal once I did this.

Sleep apnea--my husband was tested and does have it. He uses a C PAP machine now and says as long as the mask fits properly he gets some good rest.

Of all the things you mentioned, I'd be most concerned about the last. If enough oxygen doesn't get to your heart while you're sleeping, it can be VERY serious.

I'm sure your wife would like to know you'll be around as long as possible. :) I know that's how I felt when my hubby got his machine. So relieved!

Be well!
