Phoenix Practice
Sep. 15th, 2013 06:03 pmWhile there weren’t a huge number of folks at practice today, it was better than last week.

At this point it looks like one of the faires that has been a regular job for us since 2002 is not going to happen this fall.
This is very sad as it is a fun faire
I personally am unhappy about this as it was going to fall on my 50th birthday and I was looking forward to sword fighting in front of a large audience on my 50th 1200 miles from home.
But, such is life.
So, without this show to plan, practice and prepare for, folks goofed around a bit more than normal.

The problem is arrows fly in a very different manner where there is a big wad of Kevlar tied to the front of them.

So, this takes a lot of practice.

Our sword teacher said it was the best fight our group ever did and the kind of thing all of us should be doing.
But, it’s been 2 years and they couldn’t remember it. Somewhere we’ve got it written down and on video. We’ll have to bring that next week.
By the time all this was done, the fire arrows were ready.

It is VERY hard getting a photo of an arrow in flight, even if it is flaming.

Catching me carrying them back to be shot again, not so hard.

Usually you end up with just missing the arrow.

A few other fire things were practiced, but not much.

So, we ended up finishing early.
I have no idea what this photo is or why it is on my camera. But, I see a dollar!

We decided to eat at Chilli’s on the way home. We found the hood had been popped up for the whole drive.

Glad it didn’t come open on the highway!
