Very weird
Aug. 14th, 2013 10:42 pmVery weird
I’ve lived within 50 miles of Boston for 95% of my life.
There was one part of Boston I went to more than twice a month for most of a decade.
We drove through it on our tour of Boston today, and I had no idea where I was.
That part of the city has changed so much that I literally had no idea where I was, even thought it is a place I must have spent hundreds of hours in my life.
I really feel like a time traveler in some distant future. It is very strange.

Date: 2013-08-15 11:59 am (UTC)and driving the area under the city is still very confusing. Now that there's even less room for signage under the city, it's harder to
attempt to navigate.

Date: 2013-08-16 08:10 am (UTC)I do NOT see this as a sign of aging (which people always throw up). There's nothing wrong with being shocked that things can change so drastically.
How are things, Frank??? I'm so behind here at LJ...

Date: 2013-08-16 12:42 pm (UTC)There used to be an elevated train there, the sports arena and the Federal building.
The elevated was torn down about 20 years ago and the other two buildings knocked down and replaced with new ones. So, the only thing that is really the same is the street name. I only recognized that because the tour driver took a wrong turn and mention the name of the road on which he was making an illegal turn.
Other than that, I'm doing OK. We're very busy this week and I'm not keeping up with the posts very well. Keeping the kids busy doesn't leave much time for posting...
