This Sunday we’re doing a show at Smith College for their annual Science
Fiction Convention. I’m not happy with doing it Easter Sunday. We had
been on for Saturday, but got bumped.
But, we made the commitment, so we’ll go. Although I’m not sure how many
folks will show up for a 9AM historical sword show on Easter Sunday.

Our plan is we do:
A historical sword show
An hour of lessons showing people how to use a few different weapons
A discussion group on which weapon would be best in a zombie apocalypse
A hour of using padded weapons on simulated zombies to see which is best.

Now, padded weapons are often called boffer weapons.

But, I was still surprised to see the schedule on line today says there
will be an hour of “boffing with Phoenix Swords” at noon on the lawn in
front of the convention.
30 years ago I would have been all for going to a women’s college full of
science fiction fans for something with that title.
But now I just think “that’s not a good description of what we were
planning”.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeell, with a description like that, you may either have a huge crowd of all the school's extroverts, or, you may be out on the green, all alone, as no one on campus would entertain doing such things in the cold, snow, and on the holiest day of the year!

Probably, not alot of seriously religious people at Smith College, though, I suspect. Should be interesting - I eagerly await the post-show report!

I laughed...and I needed a laugh. If it wasn't Easter I would show up for your panel. Just think how that would look on a performance resume =)

Hahahahaha
