Tonight I’ve got to go to the dentist to get a tooth worked on.
Exactly which tooth is not yet known. He says 4 need it and he’ll pick
with worst tonight.
Hopefully it will go well.

Much like the no sense in my fingertips, I’ve got other weird things that
can make going to the dentist difficult for me.

First, I am very resistant to Novocain. If it works for me at all I burn
through it very, very fast.
When I had my wisdom teeth out I needed a full dose of it for every tooth
when the dentist said one shot should have done it for all.
Back when I lived in New Hampshire I would burn through it so fast that I
needed 3-4 shots per tooth being worked on.
A lot of the time that hurt more than having the tooth drilled, so I didn’t
bother at all.
The good news is: that was 25 years ago and now they have some variants of
it that do work on me. So, that makes it much easier to deal with dental
work.

Back in those days in New Hampshire my dentist did find another thing I’ve
got that is unusual.
He was working on a filling one day and suddenly stopped.
“Wow, you’ve got fronds under your tongue,” he said.
“What?” I asked. (OK, with him holding up my tongue, it didn’t come out
that well, but he knew what I was asking.)
“You’ve got fronds of skin under your tongue,” he said.
Then, he called in his assistant to see. Then, the other two dentists.
Then, their assistants.
Pretty soon the whole dental office was there looking at the bottom of my
tongue.
It was very strange.
He assured me that there wasn’t anything wrong with having them and that
they are just very unusual.
No dentist before or since has said anything about them. But, these days I
usually keep my tongue down if they’re working in my mouth just in case.

When I lived in Boston I hardly ever got novocaine to get my teeth worked on...now I'm a big old wuss.

I don't know what tongue fronds are...but I'm certain I'm happy I don't have them! ;p (I can google!)

I hate dentist...they give me massive panic attacks...so good luck with yours!

I have to have extra Novocain all the time, but I'm definitely not as resistant as you! Good luck tonight!

Good luck at the dentist... I'm one of those people who does NOT cope well with going to the dentist. I'm also one of those people who gets sore teeth just listening to people scrape their teeth on metal cutlery. UGH!!

I can see the next TV ad from those cosmetic laser surgery companies:

"Do you have excessive facial hair, wrinkles, sagging neck skin, or even embarrassing tongue fronds? Well, come in for a free consultation visit today and learn how quickly and inexpensively you can start living the good life, looking younger and happier in just a matter of hours!!"

I generally need TONS of novocaine, sometimes applied in weird places. My usual dentist is pretty good at that and when I had the tooth extraction, I hardly even got a pang. Though my nose and eyelid were numb for a few hours...
