Field trip to the Georgia Aquarium
Nov. 14th, 2012 09:33 pmOn the way to the shows in Pensacola and Mobile, we go through Atlanta. (Atlanta is the Rome of the southern USA. All roads go there and you can’t avoid it.)

Every time we go through we say “Some day we should go to the aquarium there.
So, this time, we did.

To be honest, the inside of the place is a bit too Fierce Creatures for my tastes.

Everything seems to have a corporate sponsor and it looks more like a Disney park than an aquarium.
But, I will over look all of that because they have whale sharks.

The manta ray that does back flips was cool too.

But, we were there for the worlds biggest fish. There were four of them and three of us.

They are just as impressive as I had hoped.

The other fish are cool too.

And there are a lot of viewing options.

Of course the big window is the place to see them.

There you can see more than one at a time.

There are 4 in the tank.
I spent a lot of time in front of the big window.

I was very happy to see them.

Once we had satisfied ourselves with seeing the whale sharks, we left. Yeah, they have a ton of other things. But this is the only place in the US that has whale sharks. All the others in captivity are in Japan or China.
And, everything else at the aquarium we have all seen at other places.
If we had more time, sure. But, with 800 miles left to go, we saw the unique things and left.
Outside there were folks in green with pointed hats putting up Christmas lights.
We figured they must be elves.

My wife and I had our picture in front of one of the corporate dolphins.

I am very glad we stopped. It was well worth it even for only 2 hours.
