This is in answer to the [livejournal.com profile] frozendoll meme I started earlier.

#26) Your perfect night out
I go somewhere with my wife, we have a wonderful time that hopefully involves good food and we come home together.

I will say that I don’t like going to noisy places as it disrupts my hearing. My hearing always tests very well so it is a software problem, not a hardware problem.
I’ve always suspected that when I rewired my brain back in 4th grade it took a bit away from the hearing processing for other duties. As it was when I was learning music, I can sort a fair number of musical sounds into different tracks. But, only music.
So, my hearing is above average.
My sorting sound in a noisy environment is well below average.

Because of this, I don’t like most bars, clubs and other things with lots of background noise.

I tend to like movies, plays, concerts (the kind where people sit and listen to the music), museums, presentations, debates, boat rides, singing boat rides, and things where I don’t have to sort too many sounds.

I talked more about it back in question #23:
http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/622493.html

Basically I was a special needs kid who didn't like being called stupid. So, I had to train myself to act and think a different way to convince people it wasn't true. I don't think it was ever true the way they thought it was. I just thought in a way that did not mesh well with the system in place. Much as I would have liked the system to change for me, I decided it was better to change myself.
