This is why the giant robot freezers I’m working on have 3 different refrigeration systems and are enclosed in a separate refrigeration system on top of that. You just can’t replace samples if you lose them.
It is very sad when you think about people donating their brains to try and find solutions to problems. And, that it looks like someone may have deliberately sabotaged it.
But (and I cannot believe that I'm the only one who thought of this) - all those brains together.... my bet is on some zombie software engineers who hacked the system to disable the alarm so they could get at the brains, thaw them out, and well.... Brains!!!!
