Wednesday we had a show that was supposed to be outside in a park. But, due to storms that brought down buildings only a few towns from where we were, we got to experience the joy of performing in a high school gym.

I’m not saying I’d rather be swinging the sword in a thunder storm. I was glad to be out of the rain. But, the very, very hot gym did not rekindle any positive feelings for high school.

One of my coworkers brought his kids to the show. There were questions about my wearing tights and “prancing” about in them. I’m not sure I prance...

I think he was just as happy to see women wrestling other women.

We did have to be extra careful of the bigger weapons. The floor was not wood, but I suspect a bec-de-corbin would go through it anyhow.

Thursday night we were going to play WOW with our goddaughter. But, apparently she created a new character that we didn’t know about and has surpassed us in levels.
I got her to connect with the realid feature tonight so we’ll know if she’s on no matter what character from now on...
Friday night we went out to celebrate 27 years since our first date. My wife again had lobster.

This one was preshelled and in a casserole.
Mine was not any kind of shell fish, but was red.

Then we went to see that movie about the guy stealing the moon and the other guy with the squid gun. It was good and we both liked it.
Saturday afternoon we set out for my wife’s cousin’s to do a fire show. I can’t say we were overly encouraged by the weather when we set out.

When we got to her cousin’s house, all of 5 miles away, the rain had stopped.

My wife likes their flowers and their dog.

Now, usually when Phoenix Swords does a job, we go in, do the job and leave. We’re usually a bit on edge getting ready and don’t relax until it is all over.
Maybe it was my wife’s cousin, who most of them had met, but this job our people seemed more relaxed waiting to go on then normal.

(I must say that photo got me laughing for a good long time about the total lack of pre-show jitters it captures.)
But, we did get everyone out to practice before we performed.

There were about 75 guests at this party. For my wife’s cousin’s side of the family was: my wife. The rest were his wife’s family. I guess there are a lot of them.

They seemed to like people setting themselves on fire for them.

Someone on facebook asked if my wife really knew how to eat fire.
Yes. She does.

Of course, Tom does eat more.

They seemed to like the big fire tricks too.

My wife’s meteors were a bit hit too.

And, of course, everyone likes the big fire ball.

Literally as soon as I announced we were finished my wife’s cousin charged up to us with cold beer to get us to drink more.
He’s a cop you know.
Beer or not, we were soon relaxing again.

Today it was back to the practice grounds and the weekly check on the car porn star.
Still in progress.

Very few folks showed up for practice today.

We did have two hawks circling over. Given the spray of feathers on the ground where we were, I think it had more to do with us being in their hunting ground them their liking swords. But, you never know.

Those of us who were there used it as a chance to refresh and review some of the newer historical methods.

At one point peach trees showed up and needed moving.

But, it was soon back to sword work.
