Saturday night quandary
May. 16th, 2010 08:47 amLast night I was at home watching a DVD documentary on the life of Geoffrey Chaucer. My wife had gone to bed, but I wanted to see the rest of the documentary, even having it on DVD.
There was a knock on our front door. This is very unusual as folks have to ring to get into our stairway and no one had rung.
I opened the door and there was a young man I’d guess to be about 20 there.
“My dad lives next door and is having some people over,” he said. “In case we get to loud, here’s my phone number. Call that and I’ll tell everyone to be quiet.”
He handed me a piece of paper and went back to the apartment next door.
So, Saturday night and I’m watching shows about a poet dead 610 years and people having a party are worried about being too loud next to me.
I remember the days I went to neighbors and told them we’d be having a party and if we got to loud to let me know. That was a long time ago, at least 20 years. OK, I get why a kid that age would worry about being too loud for me.
But, this guy was warning me his father’s party could be too loud.
I’m not sure I like that.
But, it was an interesting show about Chaucer...
