Since Thursday I’ve been working for hourly pay for the first time since May 1986.
For those 23 years, I’ve been paid the same amount no matter how many hours I did or didn’t work. Granted, I’ve never worked less than the 40 my pay was calculated for, but that’s a different issue.
Now that I’m paid by the hour and have to track it myself, I am obsessed with time.
The other day I went to the lunch room in the building. I looked a the clock when I got back and said “this lunch cost me $12.50 before I even paid for the over priced sandwich.”
To be fair, I used to do it when I worked at McDonalds back in the 80’s. But, when you’re paid $4 and hour, lunch doesn’t cost you a whole lot more than the sandwich. Now, it does.
I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually.

Yes, in this mode time = money, but

money != time.

Maybe you have to be a software programmer to appreciate the syntax, but indeed there are times when time is priceless, or at least, it cannot be bought back, for any price.

It is true:
I can buy money with time, but can't buy time with money...
