Waffle sword fights
Sep. 21st, 2009 09:52 amFriday I had bought waffles and bacon to make for breakfast. But, my wife opted to wait until Sunday for them as we had the show Saturday and she doesn’t like to eat much before a show.
So, yesterday I got up and made breakfast.

We got our waffle maker as a wedding present 16 years ago, and have used it reasonably often over the years. The first couple of years it was a couple times a month, now it’s still every other month or so.
Although it is supposed to have non-stick surface, I always spray it with Pam anyhow. But, yesterday that didn’t seem to be enough to keep the waffles from sticking.

It could be that the surface is wearing out after many, many waffles. But, it also looks like they changed the waffle mix I like. So, I’m not sure if it is iron or mix, but they were sticky.
After breakfast we picked up the fire stuff at Hoops and headed down to CT for the last of our big practices before next week’s fire show.
We went a different way this time that took us over the dam near

As we are doing some sword shows next week too, we’ve kept up the practice on that.

We are doing a lot of reviews of the fights for safety and effect.

It is tempting to make some sort of joke about the effect

But, it is also important to make sure she can fight in it. We don’t want a costume malfunction as happened a few years ago with an ex-member.

I am happy to see the new members be so active. They certainly seem willing to pick up the swords and join in. Their interest and enthusiasm seems to be giving a bunch of us older members a boost as well.
