Those whacky pixies

Last August I spent some time looking for either this, or something much like this.
Today as I went to change out of my work clothes I saw it sitting on my table wrapped around some pencils. Yes, in plain sight in front of where I walk all the time.
Go figure.

So, is the missing one, or are they playing other tricks?
