Week in photos

At work I thought our receiving guy had two calendars and was worried one was a week off. Turned out just to be the size of the trash bags.

Maybe it is because the things I am most allergic to are in full force. At least the rain has been keeping it somewhat in check.

I got rid of my 23 and me account due to their expectation of selling everyone’s data as part of their bankruptcy settlement.
Now I’ve just got my ancestry.com account to look at.
At least it breaks down what I get from each side of the family.

This truck saying "do not follow" was on the road to my home. I defied the truck and drove home behind it.

My wife and I tried the new Indian place that opened near us. https://a2bma.com
The Dosa were huge.

I ordered one dish (Sundaikai Vathal Kuzhambu) and the waiter was "are you sure? Those of us who work here think this one has some spice."
"I’m sure," i said.
"I’ll bring extra rice, just in case," he said.
I noticed a good percentage of the wait staff near our table when I was eating it. The guy with the water was always close by. I wonder if they had placed bets.
It was spicy. More than I normally do. But, not the hottest thing I’ve ever had.
I do think we’ll go back. If I don’t have it again it is just there is a lot there I’d like to try.
Saturday there was a lot going on. There were protest marches against the current presidential administration and I knew a bunch of folks going to that.
And, my congressional representative was coming to take questions from folks in our area.
I didn’t think I’d be able to do both, so picked talking to the congressman.
It’s interesting because on the facebook post about this meeting there are a lot of people saying "almost no one showed up".
My experience was there were few seats left and a lot of folks stood in the back.

I’m against political parties. And, our congressman is VERY into his. But, I like him despite that.
One reason is when he got there he walked in from the back saying hi to folks with his coffee, no big fanfare, announcements or anything.

He talked for a brief time and said he’d take questions from anyone.

There was a blind guy there who said he was a martial artist and told our congressman that he knows how to fight back against people when you’re at a disadvantage in a fight and he expects our congressman to fight back better.
His friend in the blue said "get off your ass and fight this fascist president!"

Daredevil Born Again (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daredevil:_Born_Again ) is currently playing on Disney+ about a blind martial artist lawyer crime fighter.
Never expected to see him in real life. And, doubly not expect to see him to tell my congressman to fight better.
The whole audience applauded him as he and his friend walked out.
The congressman did stay to listed to everyone who wanted to say something. As noon passed the crowd did thin some. I think going to some of the protests that started about that time. But, I waited to hear them all too.

Saturday evening the "Black Student Union" at the college where my wife works was having a fashion show. Several of the students who work for my wife were involved, so she had bought tickets. I’m not a fashion show person, but it is good to support folks, so off we went.
30+ years ago my wife and I did a very small comic book together. The leader of the superhero team set in Worcester was John Hart and he was an instructor at that school. So, I was surprised the building we went to was the "Hart building".

I didn’t think very many people read our comic, much less named buildings after characters.
(My wife says it is a different person with the same name. But, that’s how superheroes work, right?)
The photos of it didn’t come out well. The room was mostly dark with bright lights at the center. Lots of folks were moving around. My camera seemed obsessed with the hat the man in front of me was wearing and it is almost always in focus.
So, blurry photos. Sorry.
There were folks wearing fashion things, musical acts and two different dance groups.
It’s the only fashion show I’ve been to, but it was better than a lot of shows I’ve seen. (I have seen a LOT of shows…)

The organizers came out at the end to thank everyone. The one on the left is one of the folks who works for my wife.

The Hart Center is on top of a hill at the edge of the city. Even though it was raining when we came out it was still a nice view.
