Do unto others…
Jan. 19th, 2009 08:51 amThere is a road on my way to work that I always worry about when it is slippery. It goes down hill, curves to the left, then goes up to a stop sign.
The house on the curve used to put up special things to catch the cars that don’t make the curve.

A couple of years ago, the town of Hudson widened the road and make it a bit less tricky. But, I still am very careful when I get there in the snow.
Today as I crested the hill and started down, I could see some poor guy hadn’t made the curve. Another person had stopped next to him and they were looking at the car.

“You need help pushing it off?” I asked.
“Don’t know yet,” one of the guys said.
I stopped and got out anyhow. Two of us pushed while the driver tried to get it off of the guard rail.

Sadly, even when I stepped out into the snow on the side of the car, we couldn’t move it at all. The wheels spun, the car stayed rock solid.
I suspect, and they agreed, that it was caught on the guard rail and a couple of guys pushing was not going to move it.
So, the guy called for a tow truck and I continued to work.
I felt bad I couldn’t help him. I know what it’s like to be stuck on a snow bank.
But, I tried.
