Adventures in NH
Oct. 5th, 2008 08:21 pmThis weekend my wife and I went up to visit
We hadn’t been up to visit in quite some time, so we stayed up fairly late visiting.
We had been worried about the weather, but in the morning it looked pretty good.

On Saturday
They live on a nice lake, and the leaves are doing their fall turning. So, it was a great place to take photos of the troupe to use for next year.
They have the lake, a lawn, and some forest, so we can get a good range of photos for people in different costumes.
Also, we had people practice their fights and video tape the ones that are ready for public viewing.
Although we don’t have a lot of time before some big shows, it’s good to practice in different areas and conditions. Especially outside in the wind and the cooler weather.
It was the first time I wore my new gambison from Storied Threads.

But, I’m not sure it has the effect I wanted.

Instead of worrying about the big sword guy dressed in red,

And, I’m more goofy then a tick is.

The photos taken, we moved some of the things about the house for better filming.

We went through most of the fights and they seemed to go pretty well. Having reviewed the video today, it looks pretty good.

Their dogs seemed very excited by it. Barley and Coco played a lot with folks and seemed very excited about it all.

It was nice to be up there on the lake. I’m glad we have an indoor practice area for the winter. But, I do miss the days of having sword practice out in the woods. The factory where we do it now is warm and dry, but not as much fun.
Don’t know if everyone agrees, but I think it makes better pictures.

We even got my wife to really smile.

In the evening, we broke out some games like we tend to do on game nights.
We played the magnetic game a lot.

A lot of time was spent trying to get multiple magnets to balance. I never managed it, but Josh and Tom were pretty good at it.

We stayed over last night as well.

It was a very nice weekend, and a nice visit with friends.
We both had a good time.

Date: 2008-10-06 01:20 am (UTC)I am sure that the kids are going to be thrilled by the physics of sword (and sickle) fighting, too ! I think that we're going to end up buying some magnet games for school (and us) as well...
