About a month ago we bought a new iphone 8 for my wife at our local mall. My wife hadn’t wanted to wait for the X, and I wanted her to get one that could also use wireless charging.

It went fine. The young woman who waited on us was very helpful and all was set up in a fairly short time. (It took us almost a week to remember the password to restore the old phone’s settings to the new phone, but that isn’t the fault of Apple or anyone who works there…)

This week, I went and bought one of the X’s for myself.
They just came out last Friday and are reasonably rare. So, instead of getting one at the mall where we usually shop, I found one 20 minutes away from where I work just over the border into the next state.

As I was getting my phone a man in an Apple shirt walked by.
“It’s good to see you again!” he said to me. “How does your wife like that iPhone 8 you got her?”

I didn’t recognize him. I haven’t been to that particular mall in many years (something like 30) and that was before they had an Apple store.

“That was at a different store in a different state,” I said to him.
He smiled at me.
“Of course it was!” he said, and walked off.

My wife said she thinks Apple is watching me.
I think he overheard me telling the woman waiting on me that my wife had just gotten an 8.

Either way, it was strange.
