I had to make another trip to Georgia this week to visit the company that makes the freezers for my robot freezers I design.

The good news is that actual visit went well. We taught everyone what they needed to know, found some problems that could be fixed and formally handed the freezer control to our head of manufacturing so that hopefully, I won't need to do this again.
We planned to be there all day and got done by 10AM.

Everything else was bad.

When flying down to Atlanta, the plane was running late. The hurricane down south is causing lots of people to flee. So, planes are full, schedules are off and it's a mess even 1000 miles north.

We got on the plane, they closed the door, we pulled away.

Then, the pilot came on the PA: "Fight attendants prepare for arrival."
What? We left 10 seconds ago. Did I pass out and miss the 3 hour flight?
But, we pulled back up, they opened the door and a big discussion started with someone outside the plane.

Turned out they had pulled away without getting the maintenance checklist. That's a big no-no as they had no proof the plane was actually working right.

Then when we finally pulled away they told us that we had missed out spot in the flight queue and had to wait for a new one.
So, more than an hour late we took off.

Driving out of Atlanta we stopped for dinner at the world's slowest McDonalds. The production manager, me and one random person were there.
10 minutes after ordering the worker came up to us with a bag of food that didn't match any of our orders.
"There are only three of you," she said. "One of you has to take this."
The production manger did.
I finally got my food and we got back on the road.

Then we found out the highway we take to get there was closed as they were chopping down trees along the side and shut down the highway for that event.
With a bit of GPS and a fair bit of my having driven around that area a lot, we got to the hotel only about 10PM.

The good news was my phone was not actually left at the MCDonald's. It had just called to a place really hard to see.

In the morning we found out a tiger had been on the loose:

The good news was that it did not come into the Waffle House where we had breakfast.

As I said, we got out early and got back to the airport in the early afternoon. We got places on the flight 2 hours before our original plan.

Somewhere walking around terminal D of the Atlanta airport I lost my camera. Don't know where. I didn't realize it until we were getting on the plane and it wasn't there.

It's very sad. I had a bunch of photos on it I hadn't transferred yet.
Sad.

The flight was late. I was in a middle seat. Babies were screaming.
3/4 of the people around me were from Florida fleeing the storm. The woman next to be had driven from Miami to Atlanta to get a flight. It took her more than half a day for the drive, then she was flying to Boston, then across the country to the other coast. That's a long way to avoid a storm.

I made it home about 10, and since my plane wasn't originally going to land until 10:45, that's still a win.

I did report my lost camera to the lost and found. But, I don't have a lot of hope for that.
