fbhjr: Eclipse (Eclipse)

We got to Baker City with plenty of time. So, we decide to walk around town and check the place out.

Any place where the library has a drive up window, you know I’m going to like.

They were having an eclipse festival in the park behind the library, so we stopped in.

There was a nice stream by the place and food trucks so we stopped for lunch.

I guess these folks take eating in the park seriously if they have to put up signs about people bringing their own picnic tables.

Of course, we found the person doing blacksmithing.

We ordered something, cash, for him to ship. We’ll see if it arrives…
If so, maybe we’ll do more.

Bigfoot was there too. But, I expect that in the North West.

They had a museum across the street. I can’t resist a museum!

They had quite a rock collection that came from the collection of two women who donated it to the museum.

And, Mammoth teeth!

I like they had some you could touch.

They also had a special room for glowing rocks.

The rest of the museum is dedicated to the history of the town.

I think of it as a new town, but they don’t.

1874? To me, a year older than my grandfather doesn’t seem old for a town.

If it reminds folks of Westerns, it is because some were shot there. And they still have the planning set ups for them.

Apparently there are 7 different "lost" towns in the county.

Some weren’t so much lost as destroyed by an angry woman.

Maybe this was her…

Of course, I found some of our performance equipment there.

This was a school bus.

Oh no! A bear!

They seemed to have lots of violins. But, not my lost one.

Never mind benches, they have a whole seating area.

After the museum we went next door to the World Largest Map (of the Oregon Trail)

Then, we walked back to the hotel.

For dinner we walked off to a place recommended in the "big" hotel down town.

After all, they have a Historic Cellar.

The dining room wasn’t open, so we sat in the bar.

Apparently the number of people overwhelmed the cook. He walked off and refused to make any more food. After a while he calmed down and came back, so we got our food.
But, before we finished he declared he was done for good.
The bar was fairly full, but not all the seats were taken. By then, the dining room was a good 25% full.
I think they may need a cook with more capacity if any other big events come to town.

Nice chandeliers though.

It was still cloudy as the sun set.

This was outrageous, so we went off to the courthouse.

(OK, my wife said "don’t worry about what you can’t control, let’s walk around town some more…)

It is a nice courthouse.

We looked at the memorial, as we tend to do.

Then off to watch Game of Thrones on the hotel HBO and go to bed…
