Monday morning everyone was happy to get up and get on the road north.

Traffic into NYC is never good. Doesn’t matter if it is 10AM.

Even the cabs stack up…

We stopped at the Cloisters branch of the Metropolitan Museum. http://www.metmuseum.org/visit/met-cloisters

The kids seemed to like the castle like part. I renewed our membership.

The museum has a lot of religious art.

Ben seemed impressed that they had transported doorways from Europe.

My wife likes the tapestries.

I thought it interesting this staff is from a university in Germany that my company is doing business with now.

Hope they don’t want it back…

And, benches!

Of course, the gardens are very nice.

We explained the link between gardens and paradise and how it was laid out to be like the garden of Eden. But, it wasn’t the fountain of life.

Apparently it was also a comfortable place to rest.

Is that an air conditioner up there? That’s not historic!

Nice arches!

Stained glass!

People were still resting…

Tombs!?!? OK, that got Gabriele up to look.

There was the question of this engraved shield on the tomb and certain Indiana Jones movies…

Nice things in the artifact area.

Ben was surprised by the historic payphone…

"You had to carry change???"
"Yes. We did…"
"That’s horrible!"
"You got used to it…"

Then, lunch by the gardens.

I’m told the lyrics to the Mary Poppins song is not "Tease the birds". But, they are aggressive there.

More garden wandering.

They hide the "magic" plants these days. Wonder why?

There were efforts to get people to pose for photos.

And, they worked!

Then, back to the car.

The traffic theme continued.

We did get home eventually. There had been a request for Italian food, so off we went for that.

As the sun set, home for the end of the day.

After dinner we played some games.
