Tales from down south: plagues of locust

Monday morning as we started our long drive home we ran into one of the biblical plagues.
We had just crossed from Florida into Alabama and were going through a large flat area with cotton fields to either side.
A small dark cloud that looked like a puff of smoke swept across the field to our right and into the front of the van.
It turned out to be a cloud of locust that splattered all across the windshield covering it in dead bugs.
I used the windshield wiper to clean it off, and there were no more bugs to be seen.
So, it was a small plague. Just 1 windshield’s worth of locust.
We discussed being hit with one of the plagues from Exodus.
I told everyone that if they felt they needed to be let go from the van I’d be happy to pull over and comply. No one felt that way.
There was darkness later.
But, no rivers of blood, frogs, other bugs, flaming rain or boils.
Given that 3.5 out of 5 people in the van were first born children, good that we missed that one too.
But, it was still very strange.
I guess we were very lucky. When we got the van the week before, it was out of wiper fluid. I didn’t think too much of it, but my wife said “I’ve got an extra bottle! Let’s fill it up!”
So, we had filled it up.
If not, then the locust would have blinded us as we drove through Alabama.
I guess that means my wife cancels biblical plagues
