Sword practice resumes

We had originally planned to go to New Hampshire this weekend. But, the mother of the friend we were going to visit had to be hospitalized so we cancelled.
Since we haven’t had a sword practice since June, it isn’t a bad thing that we got to have a practice this week after all.
For a bit I worried that it would be a damp practice, but the rain that moved through came through quickly.

My wife and I went to storage to pick up the swords.

Then, we went to a nice snack bar for lunch. It’s only open in the summer and very close to where we practice. So, it was our first time there this year, and next week is their last week.

They make excellent clam and apple fritters.

It has been a very dry summer. So I expected the lake behind the dam to be low. But, it was not as low as I had expected.

Despite the drought, the place we rent for practice was still nice and green.

Tom was there and brought his kids. They are very into sword fighting.

But, he and I went through our fight too.

I spend some time doing sword fights with his son too.

And, his daughter may be 2, but is a badass with swords…

The new family did show up. So, it wasn’t a bad crowd for sword practice.

It looks like we will have 4 sword people for Mobile. I wouldn’t mind if we can get a couple of more to go too. We’ll see.
Either way, after 3 months off, we needed practice.

It isn’t quite fall yet, but the leaves are starting to change. Right now, it is still mostly green. We’ll see how long that lasts.
